This medical exhibit shows four cut-away views of the head and brain illustrating the progression of a sinus infection into the brain. The images include, normal anatomy, onset of infection to the frontal sinuses, penetration of the infection through the thin bone layers of the skull into the brain cavity, and the final spread of infection throughout the cranium resulting in brain edema and hemorrhage.
